  What is Lent? Lent is a season in which we especially focus on examining our hearts, confessing our sins. Lent  is the  season  to observe and commemorate the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the son of God, our Savior and Redeemer. It is an opportune time to reflect on what it means to be a follower of Christ .   Lent  is the period of 40 days which comes before Easter in the Christian calendar. Beginning on Ash Wednesday,  Lent  is a  season  of reflection and preparation before the celebrations of Easter. By observing the 40 days of  Lent , Christians replicate Jesus Christ's sacrifice and withdrawal into the desert for 40 days.   Kannawidan Ylocos Festival is one of the most enjoying fiestas of Ilocos Sur. Kanniwadan Festival is an annual festival to promote and preserve the culture of the province and its traditions. This festival is a very significant fiesta to every resident in the province of Ilocos Sur as they are celebrating the foundation of Ilocos Sur as a province under the Royal Decree signed on February 2, 1818. But this year, 202 2  because of the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic Kannawidan Festival is not that festive compared to other years. Kannawidan means heritage or inheritance and in Ilocano means “tawid”.   Kannawidan is a place for showcasing the traditions and cultures of different parts of Ilocos Sur. Kannawidan Festivals also have the highlights including the street dancing, marching band competition, trade fair, and chorale competition, and the most important part is the “one town, one product” of every town in Ilocos Sur.
